ABSTRACT This article discusses and analyses the teaching of literature in Pedagogy Courses from 27 Brazilian federal universities. It adopts the descriptive-analytical approach. The reading of literature remains a recurring theme of discussions in the educational sphere. It is a practice that allows the interaction between the subjects of different societies and collaborates in the constitution of the human being. Based on this assertion, the teaching of literature should be included in the curriculum of pedagogues, who are the first teachers of children. The data show that most universities offer the subject on an optional basis, demonstrating the fragile presence of literature in teacher education, ratifying the idea of curriculum as a territory of power and dispute. Offering the subject as an optional extra does not guarantee its effectiveness, it depends on a series of circumstances related to the dynamics of the institutions, it becomes a shortcut. The analysis of institutions in the Northeast and Southeast regions, delimitation of this article, show a significant number of undergraduates who fail to take the subject, when it is offered as an elective. In fact, some universities do not have the conditions to ensure this offer and to provide this theoretical and methodological knowledge to the undergraduates. The gap left in the training will have repercussions on the performance of the future pedagogue. A change in the curricular proposal is needed to legitimize and guarantee a knowledge that is fundamental in the formation of the first teachers, but has taken shortcuts to become effective.

RESUMO Este artigo discute e analisa o ensino de literatura nos cursos de Pedagogia de 27 universidades federais brasileiras. Adota a abordagem descritiva-analítica. A leitura de literatura permanece um tema recorrente em discussões de âmbito educacional. É uma prática que permite a interação entre os sujeitos das diversas sociedades e colabora na constituição do ser humano. Partindo dessa assertiva, o ensino de literatura deve estar inserido nos currículos dos pedagogos, que são os primeiros professores de crianças. Os dados revelam que a maioria das universidades oferta a disciplina em caráter optativo, demonstrando a frágil presença da literatura na formação de professores e ratificando a ideia de currículo como território de poder e disputa. A oferta da disciplina como optativa não garante sua efetivação, pois depende de uma série de circunstâncias relacionadas à dinâmica das instituições, tornando-se um atalho. A análise de instituições das regiões Nordeste e Sudeste, delimitação deste artigo, demonstrou um número significativo de graduandos que deixam de cursar a disciplina, quando há a oferta como optativa. De fato, algumas universidades não têm condições de assegurar essa oferta e de proporcionar esse conhecimento teórico-metodológico aos graduandos. A lacuna deixada na formação repercutirá na atuação do futuro pedagogo. É preciso uma mudança de proposta curricular para legitimar e garantir um conhecimento que é fundamental na formação dos primeiros professores, mas tem percorrido atalhos para se efetivar.

RESUMO Este artigo traz um mapeamento do ensino de literatura nos cursos de pedagogia de 27 universidades federais do país. Toma-se como pressuposto que a literatura é fundamental para a formação humana e, portanto, deve fazer parte do currículo dos futuros professores da educação infantil e dos anos iniciais do ensino fundamental, responsáveis pela introdução das crianças na cultura letrada. A análise indica que a presença, no caso específico, da literatura infantil, na formação dos pedagogos é ainda incipiente e vulnerável aos meandros da estrutura curricular. É imprescindível introduzir a literatura como forma de propiciar ao docente, em formação inicial formal, uma vivência teórica e prática sobre seu ensino, cujo intuito seja de contribuir para a sua atuação como futuro mediador de leitura.

ABSTRACT This article brings a literature teaching mapping in pedagogy courses at 27 federal universities of this country (Brazil). It is assumed that literature is fundamental for human educational formation and therefore, must be part of the curriculum of future yearly childhood education as well as of elementary school initial levels teachers, who are responsible for the introduction of children to the literate culture. Analysis indicates that the presence, in the specific case of children’s literature in the qualification of educators, is still insufficient and vulnerable to the inside curricular structure. It is crucial to introduce literature as a means to proportionate to the teacher in their initial formal education a theoretical and practical experience about teaching with the intention of contributing to their action as a future literature mediator.
